Chengdu, the practical part 成都

What’s different here, and the few things that quietly cost people a morning.

Getting in

Tianfu Airport (TFU)

Metro Line 18 express to Chengdu South in about 34 minutes (about ¥10), then Line 1 to Tianfu Square.

Shuangliu Airport (CTU)

Metro Line 10 from both terminals to the Wuhou Temple area in about 30 minutes.

Chengdu East (成都东)

Metro Line 2 straight to Chunxi Road and Tianfu Square; central fares ¥2–5.

Getting around

Tap an eligible contactless UnionPay, Visa, Mastercard or Amex card on the metro and Chengdu Bus Group services. The metro also accepts Diners and Discover. Enable small no-PIN payments before riding; Alipay ride codes are another option.

Easy to get wrong

Chengdu has two airports about 67 km apart; separate tickets with a short connection fail.

Check the airport code (TFU or CTU) on each ticket; with separate tickets keep at least six hours or use the same airport.

Wuhou Shrine · Jinli Ancient Street

An afternoon Wuhou–Jinli block does not automatically include Jinli’s later lighting.

Keep the full visits; if lighting is the point, plan dinner/waiting as additional time instead of compressing the museum.
