Chongqing, the practical part 重庆

What’s different here, and the few things that quietly cost people a morning.

Getting in

Jiangbei Airport (CKG), Terminal 3

Since 23 Dec 2025 all domestic and international flights use T3; take the metro from the T3 station, not the old T2 station.

Metro Line 10 from T3 with one change to reach Jiefangbei: allow 40–60 minutes; fares ¥2–9.

Chongqing North (重庆北)

Chongqing North has north and south squares; both lead into the station. North Square connects with Metro Line 10; South Square with Line 3 and the Loop Line. Choose the side that suits your approach, and give your driver the exact square and pickup point.

Getting around

Use an Alipay or WeChat ride code if your overseas account can activate it. As a backup, buy a single ticket or a tourist pass at a staffed counter with an accepted overseas bank card: 1 day ¥18, 3 days ¥45, 5 days ¥70. Counter card payment should not be treated as gate-tap access.

Stations have exits on different levels; leaving by the wrong exit can put you floors above or below your street. Navigate to the exit number, not the station.

Easy to get wrong

A “500 m” walk on the map can be stairs, lifts and footbridges across levels.

Use walking directions (not straight-line distance), and confirm the hotel’s road-level entrance before booking.

Taking a car to the wrong side of Chongqing North.

Agree on North Square (北广场) or South Square (南广场) and an exact pickup point with the driver. Both sides provide station entry; leave time to reach your departure gate.

Watch the sky become part of the city

The drone show scheduled for 4 October 2026 was cancelled; this record applies to that date only.

The remaining announced October shows are on 17, 24 and 31 October 2026 at 20:30, weather permitting. Keep the riverfront walk as your evening plan if the show is cancelled.

Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum

A far-away morning stop can consume the museum’s admission window.

Use the museum as the first stop at 09:00, then the nearby Great Hall. Ordinary Monday closure still applies.
