Ponds, pavilions and planted views that change as you walk.
Our takeSlow down at windows and path turns; the changing frames matter more than ticking off every pavilion.

A stone lane beside canals, bridges and waterside houses.
Our takeIf listening interests you, choose a real pingtan session at Shuyin, then return to the canal walk.

Regional art in a building shaped by light and garden views.
Our takePair it with one classical garden and leave time to notice the building as well as the objects.
A classical garden known for its rock landscape and winding passages.
Our takeChoose it for rock forms and spatial play, as a different experience from long pond views.

Covered paths framing rocks, ponds and pavilions.
Our takeChoose it when covered wandering appeals, rather than adding it automatically to several other gardens.
A hill and pagoda offering an outdoor heritage outing.
Our takeGive it a main block, with room afterwards for a meal instead of another major sight.

A whole town of canals and stone bridges outside the garden circuit.
Our takeKeep a deliberate water-town block; don't squeeze it into a day already full of gardens.

Metro: Xiangmen 1
Canal walks, gardens and small historic stays
Trade-off: Narrow lanes complicate luggage; older guesthouses may lack lifts.
Metro: Leqiao 1 · 4
Central shopping, food and conventional hotels
Trade-off: Commercial and busy; less canal atmosphere than Pingjiang.
Metro: Shantang Street 2
Canal evenings on the west side of the old town
Trade-off: Farther from the eastern garden cluster; popular sections are crowded.
Metro: Dongfangzhimen 1 · 3
Modern hotels, families and business mixed with sightseeing
Trade-off: Old-town gardens require a metro ride; lake views depend on the room.
Our takeOne check before you book: Check whether the hotel is in the old town or by Jinji Lake; they support different trips.

Use Suzhou station for an old-city base; Suzhou North is in Xiangcheng District and connects to Metro Line 2.
Suzhou has no major airport of its own in our itineraries; most travellers fly into Shanghai and continue by train. Sunan Shuofang (WUX) is the nearest airport.
Our takeOne move after you land: keep your hotel's address in Chinese to show the driver. Make an address card →
Suzhou practical card →Spring blooms and cooler autumn days suit garden and canal walks better than humid summer heat.
