Descend into the vast halls of Foding Palace

Give Niushoushan half a day, with Foding Palace as the centrepiece. Take in the broad domes outside, then follow the visitor route down into the decorated halls. The scale and change of light make the descent as memorable as the building’s silhouette.

This is a contemporary religious and cultural complex with a sizeable approach. Start early enough to enjoy it, and keep a separate window for your onward train.
