Sounds from Cultural Relics: Hong Kong Gaudeamus Dunhuang Ensemble

Original music reimagines Dunhuang murals, Palace Museum objects and other Chinese artworks, with animated images of the objects behind the musicians. The programme includes new works inspired by the Gansu bronze galloping horse and the Fuxi story in Mogao Cave 285. Pair it with a museum day if you enjoy seeing the same visual motifs through another medium; this is contemporary interpretation rather than a reconstruction of ancient music. The 105-minute programme includes a 15-minute interval at Guangzhou Opera House’s Experimental Theatre.
