Lü Siqing Violin Recital: Beethoven, Brahms and Butterfly Lovers

Follow Lü Siqing from Beethoven and Brahms into Butterfly Lovers. The announced violin-and-piano programme begins with Beethoven’s Eighth Violin Sonata and Brahms’s Third, then turns to He Zhanhao and Chen Gang’s Butterfly Lovers. That gives the evening a concrete comparison between European sonata writing and a Chinese musical love story. Choose it when the violin is the main attraction. A brief account of the lovers’ story before listening can help the final work become more than a beautiful melody.
