Why it's worth it

Clear lakes, waterfalls and forested mountain valleys make water the main event at Jiuzhaigou. Let the different colours and scales hold your attention rather than treating every stop as interchangeable. This is a substantial mountain destination; Huanglong offers a different landscape and deserves a separate decision. For a first regional visit, protect a full park day instead of attaching it to a transfer and a second scenic area. Give your day two visual aims—a still lake and moving water—then let the open route and your energy decide how much else to add. If you have only one full sightseeing day in the area, choose Jiuzhaigou and save Huanglong for another trip.

Official reservation platforms: returned-ticket inventory is released at 08:00 and 17:00 China time; a waitlist is offered when a date is full.

Booking, step by step

1. Reserve through 九寨沟旅游官方平台 or 阿坝旅游网, or select the Trip.com National Park ticket plus sightseeing-bus product.
2. Check the date and traveller category before paying; entry requires a real-name reservation, including discounted or free tickets.
3. If your date is full, use the official waitlist or check returned-ticket releases at 08:00 and 17:00 (China time).
4. Bring your passport to the dedicated verification channel and arrive within your reserved entry hours.
