Shangri-La Dukezong Ancient Town

Dukezong Old Town

A compact old-town area for lanes, food and restored streets.

  • 1–2 hours
  • No booking

Our takeKeep the arrival evening to a few lanes and a meal; uphill park visits can wait.

Gedan Songzanlin Lamasery

Songzanlin Monastery

A monastery north of town, seen first as a landmark and then through its architecture.

  • 2–3 hours
  • No booking

Our takeTake in the monastery's setting before focusing on the buildings up close.

Pudacuo National Park

Pudacuo National Park

Highland lake, forest and meadow landscapes.

Our takeChoose a currently open walking section and let the group set the pace, with a simple return and warm meal.

Napahai

Napahai

Open wetlands and grazing landscapes beneath surrounding hills.

  • 2–3 hours

Our takeChoose one confirmed viewing area rather than assuming a whole-lake circuit or guaranteed bird sighting.

Shangri-La Hutiaoxia Scenic Area

Tiger Leaping Gorge

A deep gorge: an official viewpoint or a two-day hike, depending on access this week.

Our takeOfficially closed high trail: ask a trail guesthouse if walkers are getting through before you plan the hike.

Shangri-La Grand Canyon-Balagezong National Scenic Spot

Balagezong

A large managed canyon attraction with a village setting.

  • 1 day

Our takeChoose it instead of another big nature day, with optional thrill activities kept separate.

Landing in Shangri-La, and moving around

Routes from Shangri-La's airports into the city centre
Shangri-La station (香格里拉站)

The station is about 2 km west of Dukezong: plan about 8 minutes and around ¥11 by taxi. Bus 1 connects the railway station with town; confirm the stop for your hotel before boarding.
