Shangri-La, the practical part 香格里拉

What’s different here, and the few things that quietly cost people a morning.

Getting in

Shangri-La station (香格里拉站)

The station is about 2 km west of Dukezong: plan about 8 minutes and around ¥11 by taxi. Bus 1 connects the railway station with town; confirm the stop for your hotel before boarding.

Diqing Shangri-La Airport (DIG)

For Dukezong or central town, plan about 15–20 minutes and ¥20–40 by taxi; show the hotel’s Chinese address and check the fare before boarding. As a city-centre reference, Shangri-La Resort quotes about 15 minutes and ¥30 from the airport to its hotel.

Getting around

City buses accept an Alipay ride code or cash; prepare the local code before boarding.

Easy to get wrong

Shangri-La is around 3,160 m above sea level; a busy arrival day can bring headache and poor sleep.

Make arrival day light, skip alcohol that night, drink water, and descend or seek care if symptoms worsen.

Packing for Lijiang’s weather.

Bring a warm layer for evenings in any season; it is much colder higher up.

Gedan Songzanlin Lamasery · Shangri-La Dukezong Ancient Town

Adding Pudacuo to the monastery and Dukezong would consume another full visit block.

Keep monastery–Dukezong together; give Pudacuo its own trip instead of rushing it before a 16:00 deadline.
