Zhangjiajie, the practical part 张家界

What’s different here, and the few things that quietly cost people a morning.

Getting in

Hehua Airport (DYG)

The airport is about 5 km from Zhangjiajie city and roughly 35 km from Wulingyuan. A direct journey to Wulingyuan takes around 40–60 minutes; guide estimates are about ¥25 for the coach or ¥75–100 by taxi, before waiting time. If the direct coach does not fit your arrival, take bus 4 or a taxi to the city central bus station, then a Wulingyuan coach.

Zhangjiajie West (张家界西)

For Wulingyuan, use the coach station beside Zhangjiajie West: plan about 30–40 minutes and ¥13. Services are mainly daytime; check the last departure for your date.

Getting around

Easy to get wrong

Treating Zhangjiajie as one place: Wulingyuan’s park base is about 33 km north of the city, while Tianmen Mountain is a separate city-side day.

Group the park days around the Wulingyuan base and give Tianmen its own day from the city side.

Spring and summer rain, mist and cloud can hide the mountain viewpoints; visibility can change through the day.

Keep the best-viewpoint day movable within the stay and check the morning forecast.

Yuanjiajie (Avatar Hallelujah Mountain) · Golden Whip Stream · Tianmen Mountain

Returned core-mountain days and cave/bridge alternatives cannot all be collapsed into one half day.

Keep the separate entrance/route choices; hold combined cave–bridge proposals until complete times and transfers are confirmed.
