High views over ridges and repeated sandstone pillars.
Our takeChoose it for the broad high view, with Golden Whip Stream for a different perspective below.

A valley-floor walk beneath the park's sandstone pillars.
Our takeKeep it for time on foot beside the water rather than another round of lookout platforms.

A mountain with a huge natural arch, separate from Wulingyuan's pillar scenery.
Our takeGive it a separate day from Wulingyuan when you have three full days here.

A glass crossing high above a separate canyon landscape.
Our takeChoose it if the sensation of height appeals; it doesn't replace the forest park's pillar views.

A forest-park plateau with a circuit of viewpoints.
Our takePick two or three viewpoints and check cable-car and walking options before entering.
A developed cave system offering a view inside the karst.
Our takeChoose it for a contrast to mountaintop views and check which walking and boat sections are included.

Two or more days exploring the forest park
Trade-off: A separate road transfer from the city; popular entry times get busy.
Tianmen Mountain days and city-side arrivals
Trade-off: Forest-park days need a substantial road transfer; confirm your Tianmen route.
A park route deliberately starting at the south gate
Trade-off: Fewer services than Wulingyuan; only choose it when the park route fits.
Our takeOne check before you book: Match the hotel to the park gate or Tianmen route you will actually use; 'Zhangjiajie' alone is too broad.

The airport is about 5 km from Zhangjiajie city and roughly 35 km from Wulingyuan. A direct journey to Wulingyuan takes around 40–60 minutes; guide estimates are about ¥25 for the coach or ¥75–100 by taxi, before waiting time. If the direct coach does not fit your arrival, take bus 4 or a taxi to the city central bus station, then a Wulingyuan coach.
For Wulingyuan, use the coach station beside Zhangjiajie West: plan about 30–40 minutes and ¥13. Services are mainly daytime; check the last departure for your date.
Our takeOne move after you land: keep your hotel's address in Chinese to show the driver. Make an address card →
Zhangjiajie practical card →Spring greenery and cooler autumn days suit park walks, though cloud and rain can obscure views.
Typical daytime high, night low and share of wet days (1991–2020 averages, not a forecast). Golden Week (1–7 Oct 2026): expect crowds; check the official dates for other years.
