Zhangjiajie
3 nights · Wulingyuan East Gate area
Stay near the forest-park entrance for both park days; this is a different base from central Zhangjiajie and Tianmen Mountain.
Zhangjiajie · 3 nightsFour days based in Wulingyuan, with one day above the stone pillars and another in the shaded valley.
Keep three nights in Wulingyuan so the forest park is the trip, with less time on repeated approaches.
One continuous mountain route gives you the pillar views; the next day brings stream shade at a slower pace.
Tianmen Mountain replaces the valley day or needs an extra night; it does not fit as an extra between arrival and departure.
