Find old household objects, short streets and a quiet riverfront on a compact trip out of Guilin.

Getting there and back: Take a taxi from Guilin to Daxu (大圩), agreeing waiting and return arrangements with the driver. An August 2024 visitor reported about 1 hour; your hotel and traffic affect the duration. That visitor returned to Guilin in the same waiting taxi.

Time and walking: The traveller fitted this into a few spare hours; no precise total can be generalised to everyone. Reviews suggest a few hours for old streets, houses and the riverside. Slow walking around short streets and the river in a small town; this is not an entirely seated visit.

Who it suits: Suits a short outing from Guilin for old houses and riverside daily life. Less suitable if you expect a major landmark or dense entertainment programme. Town-only, Crown Cave and Yaoshan combinations have different costs. Old bus numbers/fares are not current promises. Visitors unexpectedly enjoyed homes retaining old objects, short streets and riverside atmosphere.
