Walk through the contours
Terrace contours, village paths and light at both ends of the day.
See rice terraces fold around mountain villages, a different landscape from the peaks along the Li River.
Getting there and back: Product 1272967 picks up by car/van at a Guilin hotel for Dazhai Jinkeng, the cable car to Golden Buddha Peak and Huangluo village. The product lists a 2.5-hour drive from Guilin hotels, excluding the subsequent cable-car queue. The same product returns by car to your Guilin hotel. The listed return drive is 2 hours. Expected hotel arrival is about 18:00; this is a product time, not a public last service.
Time and walking: The specified Dazhai cable-car plus Huangluo product takes 9 hours. Trip.com 91868399 lists Dazhai car park–Golden Buddha Peak at about 60 minutes walking one way or 25 minutes by cable car. These are segment times, not a total terrace visit. There is still walking around terraces and villages; no kilometre total is given. Dazhai car park–Golden Buddha Peak has a roughly 60-minute uphill walking option. This entry favours the cable car, but village walking remains. You can sit in the vehicle and cable car; walking remains on site and the product excludes travellers with reduced mobility.
Tickets and timing: A Dazhai author favours flooded terraces in May–June, summer green and pre-harvest gold in September–October; flooding/harvest dates are not guaranteed. The author does not recommend post-harvest winter; rain caused her to skip some paths.
Who it suits: Suits travellers who specifically want terrace panoramas and accept long drives and some village walking. Less suitable if you dislike spending much of the day in transit, mainly want karst scenery, or expect no walking. Longji is not a short detour beside Yangshuo. Golden Buddha Peak, easiest by cable car, also concentrates more day visitors. Layered terraces and villages offer a mountain landscape different from the Li River's karst peaks. Cruise the Li River to Yangshuo, return to Guilin by road: Both take a full day from Guilin: the Li River is cruise-out/car-back; the Dazhai reference product takes 9 hours, with source-listed vehicle legs of 2.5 and 2 hours plus walking. This compares day use, not physical effort.
