What power-bank markings are required on a domestic flight in China?

By the MyChinaTrip team · checked 26 sept 2026

For a mainland domestic flight, bring a power bank with a clear 3C/CCC certification mark and check that its model or batch has not been recalled. A familiar overseas brand or a CE mark alone does not satisfy the published 3C requirement.

您好,请帮我核对这个充电宝的3C标识、型号和容量是否符合本次航班规定。如果不能携带,请告知机场正规暂存或处置方式,谢谢!

Meaning: Please check this device's certification, model and capacity for my flight and explain authorised storage or disposal if rejected.

At a glance

  • The CAAC rule effective 28 June 2025 prohibits power banks with no 3C mark, an unclear 3C mark, or a recalled model/batch on domestic flights. [1]
  • The notice applies to the actual device carried by the passenger; inspect the printed markings rather than only a shopping-page description. [1]
  • The rule was added to existing battery-carrying controls. A3C mark therefore does not settle every airline quantity, capacity or carriage requirement. [1]
  • CAAC's notice calls for airports to provide guidance for surrender or temporary storage of rejected devices. Ask the actual airport staff about the available arrangement before deciding what to do with yours. [1]

What to do next

  1. Before packing for any mainland domestic leg, inspect every power bank. Identify the 3C/CCC mark, brand, model, batch or serial information and printed battery capacity, and remove an unmarked or illegibly marked device from that flight plan.
  2. Check the manufacturer's official recall notices for the exact model and batch, not only the brand name. If your device matches a recall, follow the manufacturer's process and choose a compliant replacement before travelling.
  3. Open the operating airline's current portable-battery rules for the actual flight and compare the device's printed watt-hours, quantity and storage arrangement. Ask the carrier about the specific model when the label or approval requirement is unclear rather than arriving at security with an unresolved question.
  4. Keep the compliant device in the carriage arrangement required by the airline and protect it from damage or accidental activation. Make the label easy to inspect and keep a normal charger available so the journey does not depend on using the power bank on board.
  5. At security, present the device when requested. If it is rejected, ask staff about the airport's authorised storage, return-to-landside or surrender options and their collection conditions; do not hide it in another bag or alter the certification label.
  6. After the check, follow the crew's instructions on where the device may be kept and whether use or charging is prohibited. Keep enough phone charge for arrival documents and payment through a permitted charging plan.

If your situation is different

You bought the power bank abroad: inspect it for the required 3C mark rather than assuming CE, FCC or another approval is interchangeable. Choose an appropriately marked device before the domestic segment if the existing one does not meet the rule.

You are only taking an international flight: read the rules for that operating carrier and departure airport, including any mainland domestic connection. Do not assume the domestic 3C notice describes every international journey's complete battery policy.

The label has worn off: treat the unclear mark as a problem before travel. A screenshot of a similar product does not make the marking on your actual device legible.

You need power for a medical device: contact the operating airline's medical or special-assistance service with the exact equipment and battery specification. Handle that arrangement separately from an ordinary phone power bank.

Common mistakes

  • Checking only the brand: inspect the mark and recalled model or batch.
  • Assuming an overseas certification replaces 3C: use the requirement for the domestic leg.
  • Buying a replacement without reading its label: inspect the actual device before leaving the shop.
  • Trying to solve rejection by moving the device into another bag: use the airport's authorised handling options.

Quick questions

Does a 3C mark guarantee the device can fly?

Match the mark and recall status, then apply the operating airline's current quantity, capacity and handling rules to the actual device.

Can I add a 3C sticker myself?

Do not alter the label. Use a device with its genuine, legible manufacturer certification and matching model information.

What if security rejects it?

Ask about the available authorised storage or surrender arrangement and the exact collection conditions. Decide before proceeding through security without the device.

What should I check when buying one in China?

Inspect the real 3C mark, model, capacity and condition, retain the receipt and check recall information. A shop location alone is not the device's certification.
