How do I book the Terracotta Warriors with a foreign passport?

By the MyChinaTrip team · checked 11 oct 2026

Book through the Qin Shi Huang museum’s official website or linked official WeChat accounts using your passport details, and bring that original passport for admission. The Warriors Museum and Lishan Garden form one museum visit, with a free shuttle between the two sites.

我用外国护照预约了门票,这是预约订单和护照原件。请问在哪个通道核验入园?

I reserved with a foreign passport. Here are my booking and original passport; which admission channel should I use?

At a glance

  • The museum publishes real-name booking for foreign visitors through its website and official WeChat channels. Its visitor guide explicitly accepts passport details for booking. [1]
  • The booking accounts named by the museum are 秦始皇帝陵博物院 and 兵马俑票务在线. Start from the museum’s own page to identify them. [1]
  • Admission uses the original valid identity document, including a passport. A reservation screenshot is useful for finding the order but does not replace the original document. [1]
  • The museum describes two areas: 秦始皇兵马俑博物馆 and 丽山园. It estimates about 1.5 hours for each and provides a free connecting shuttle; add your own breaks and transfers. [2]

How to do it

  1. Open bmy.com.cn and follow its ticket link, or use the official WeChat account linked from the visitor guide. Choose the intended visit date before committing to transport. Save the museum name separately from any tour operator’s name.
  2. Choose the passport document option and enter each traveller’s identity details exactly as required by the form. Match the document number to the passport you will physically carry. Do not select a mainland identity-card field merely to get past an input error.
  3. Complete the booking and save the successful order showing the date and all visitors. If using an agent, ask for the actual museum reservation confirmation, not just a receipt for the agent’s service. Keep the two documents separate.
  4. Bring the original booking passport and show the reservation at the marked admission channel. If a document reader cannot handle it, ask admission staff for the passport check; do not interpret a failed scan as a reason to buy another ticket immediately.
  5. Decide whether to visit Lishan Garden before returning to Xi’an. Use the museum’s free site shuttle if you do both, and leave enough time to return to the departure point agreed with your driver or to find the city-bound transport.

If your situation is different

If the official form rejects your passport details, keep the exact error and call the museum’s ticket service, 029-81399127. Ask how to complete a foreign-passport reservation for your date. This is the museum’s listed ticket contact, not a general Xi’an tourist number.

If you use a commercial booking service, compare its total, cancellation terms and what is included. A bundled guide, car or pickup is a separate service from museum admission. Request the dated entry confirmation before treating the visit as booked.

If you have only time for the Warrior pits, keep that as the main visit. The museum’s estimate for the two areas is a planning reference, not an instruction to rush each one. Decide on the extra area from your interest and onward arrangements.

Common mistakes

  • Bringing only a passport photo. The museum asks for the original valid document; keep it accessible with the reservation rather than leaving it at the hotel.
  • Assuming a paid tour receipt proves admission. Find the visitor names and admission date in the museum booking confirmation before travelling to Lintong.
  • Confusing the museum site shuttle with the Xi’an return. The free shuttle connects the two museum areas; arrange city transport separately.
  • Copying a ticket price or opening time from an undated travel guide. Use the museum’s dated booking screen for the selected visit; do not base a tight onward connection on an old screenshot.

Quick questions

Can foreigners book independently?

Yes. The museum explicitly includes foreign visitors in its official real-name reservation channels.

Which document do I carry?

The original valid passport whose details you used to reserve admission.

Is Lishan Garden another distant day trip?

It is the other area of the museum visit, connected by the museum’s free shuttle.

Do I need a guided tour?

Choose one if interpretation matters to you. It is an optional service; confirm the guide’s scope and whether admission is included in the quote.
